I have a little brown dog as brave as he can be

You can call him Kona but he’s buddy dog to me

We’ll hoist the Jolly Roger and sail across the cardboard sea

Most pirates prefer parrots but it’s buddy dog for me x2

When we wander from the castle to the haunted place of trees

The king and queen will worry about buddy dog and me

But he protects me from the trouble that hides and can’t be seen

When the wind and the witches whisper to buddy dog and me x2

Around his neck the magic tokens that know wherever I may be

And though I try to trick him they lead buddy right to me

If he wanders like a gypsy far into the unknown

They’ll charm the chief’s chariot and bring buddy dog back home x2

If I’m set upon a journey where buddy dogs can’t go

He’ll run along the river ‘til he can’t see me no more

Then he’ll lie down by the fire and chase dragons through the night

In the maze of the morning mist they will bid a fond goodbye x2

I returned from my last journey much older than before

The ships sails were tattered, in my head the cannons roared

I drew near to that old castle and remembered like a dream

The magic, myth and mystery me and buddy dog had seen x2

I rushed into the courtyard but everything had changed

His collar on the table lit by a candle flame

I remembered an old promise that came from a simple time

Take the tokens to the trees and my buddy dog I’d find x2

As I walked to that old forest, from my eyes poured the rain

I squeezed those rusty tokens and called buddy dog by name

Then the wind began to whisper and the witches sang this song:

To dine and dance with dragons your buddy dog has gone

To dine and dance with dragons your Kona he is gone

I have a little brown dog as brave as he can be

You can call him Kona but he’s buddy dog to me

We’ll hoist the Jolly Roger and sail across the cardboard sea

Most pirates prefer parrots but it’s buddy dog for me

You know I miss my buddy and my buddy misses me
